Defensive Shooting Labs offers personal protection courses for Colorado residents who want to be prepared at home and in public. Whether you’re new to firearms or looking to build on existing skills, our courses focus on practical knowledge, legal awareness, and confidence under stress.

Home Defense

Your home, your rules, your responsibility. This course covers defensive positioning, firearm selection and staging for home use, low-light considerations, and Colorado’s Make My Day law. Includes live-fire drills simulating home defense scenarios. No prior experience required.

Self Defense with a Firearm

Beyond the permit — this course builds the skills and mindset for real-world defensive encounters. Covers situational awareness, threat identification, drawing from concealment, and shoot/don’t-shoot decision-making. Designed for CHP holders who want to train beyond the minimum.

Well Armed Woman

A female-focused firearms training program covering pistol fundamentals, self-defense, awareness and range skills in a supportive environment. Open to all experience levels. This is not a watered-down course — it’s the same skills with instruction tailored to women’s specific needs and considerations.

Couples & Family Protection

This course covers home defense strategy as a coordinated team — movement, communication, muzzle awareness in close quarters, contact-and-cover positioning, and establishing roles during a threat. Completion of the Home Defense course is recommended before enrolling. Family safety planning including children’s roles is covered in the classroom portion.

What to Expect

Personal protection courses combine classroom instruction with live-fire range time. Students should bring a valid ID, their own firearm if they have one (loaners available), and dress for outdoor range conditions. Eye and ear protection available on-site. CHP holders are encouraged to bring their carry firearm and holster so they train with what they carry.
